What to Remember in Cooking Rice

Rice is an important food that is a staple foundation for most dishes particularly Asian foods. To cook rice, you just need to put together the grains, the right proportion of water, and heat. Take note that water from which rice is being boiled is nutrious, and aside from that, it is a perfect soup ingredient. I use it for my own soups.

Generally, cooking rice may sound one of the easiest tasks in the kitchen. But truth is, it isn't! You should be able to know how to do any dish that you cook regularly to be able to cook it perfectly, like rice. If you overcook your rice, you will not enjoy it. There may be a lot of ways to cook rice, but the following tips will show you the most basic way of cooking rice correctly:
BOILED RICE
1 cup of white rice
3 quarts boiling water

Boil the water in a cooking pot, or a cast iron. As soon as the water boils, rinse your rice thoroughly and add to the boiling water. Reduce heat and allow to cook until liquid is fully absorbed by the rice. You may crush a grain between your fingers to check if it is done cooking. If it is tender, your rice is cooked.

Always bear in mind that in a perfectly cooked rice, the grains are whole and distinct, and they do not stick to each other. Never cook your rice for a long period to prevent it from overcooking, looking pasty and mushy.

If you perfect the most basic technique in cooking rice, you will enjoy perfect rice!
